Prayers

Life of St Edmund's Prayer

StEdmundimage

Heavenly Father, as we gather in prayer, we ask for the guidance and inspiration of our school patron,
St Edmund, who led a life based on Gospel values and the belief in the power of God.

We pray that like Edmund, each of us will personally come to believe that,
“I can do all things with the help of God who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13)
and that together our school community may grow ever closer to you and to one another.

May our school be a place that reaches out to the wider community
and is mindful of the environment around us.

We pray in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen

Disadvantaged Students

Background

The pupil premium is additional funding provided to schools by the Department for Education.  The pupil premiums is calculated according to the number of children from low-income families who are currrently known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM), and children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months, or Service children.   This funding includes students eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years (known as the Ever 6 FSM measure).   Schools are free to spend the pupil premium as they see fit,  However, schools are to be held accountable for how the pupil premium has been used and new measures will be included in the performance takes that will capture the achievement of the pupils covered by the pupil premium.

The school was delighted to receive a letter of congratulations from David Laws MP in being successful in winning £5,000 in the Key Stage 4 category of the Pupil Premium Awards 2015.  This award was given for being one of the most improved schools in the country in terms of the attainment and value-added progress of our disadvantaged pupils since 2011.
