The Chapel

17

Our chapel is a place of welcome and hospitality is offered to everyone. As school Chaplain I am involved in many areas such as: seeing students individually who may need to talk or want some help or guidance, support for staff, working with Year Level PALS, planning liturgies, assemblies, retreats, reconciliation services, working with other faith communities, providing daily prayers for the school, being involved in outer school events , organising Tutor Masses and whole School Masses, visiting primary schools where I do assemblies and sometimes workshops for staff, offering a First Communion Program, being involved in The Pastoral Area Confirmation Team, as well as working in collaboration with our local priests.

I see my main focus as being available for students, staff, parents and anyone who is associated with St Edmund’s School Community. Our Chapel is a haven; a place for all to come and rest awhile.

I try to empower staff and students in their faith and in getting involved in areas of Chaplaincy. We have a very good Chaplaincy Team, who are dependable and willing to be of service to their fellow students. The Chaplaincy Team is taken from all Year Levels. With each new Year Seven intake, more and more join the Team and shadow the older students and learn how to: altar serve, how to welcome and usher at various services, they learn public speaking and reading, dance and drama as well as being a team who are involved in fund raising, Fair Trade, Justice and Peace Group and being a daily presence in the Chapel at break and lunchtimes.

Vibrant, welcoming, friendly, community minded, willing, continually growing in numbers, gifted and generous are words that come to mind when I think of Our Chaplaincy Team.

All are welcome!

Sr Fiona.

Lady Macbeth: Blood

Blood splattered across my hand
Marks that will not be gone
For all the perfumes in the land
Cannot change what I have done

Blood trickles down along my arm
I cannot rest at night
I murdered sleep, I murdered calm
I believed my decisions were right

Blood soaking through my hair and skin
The past is drowning me
Why did I let this all begin?
This is not how it was meant to be.
