Approach to Teaching

Photography

Photography is a new subject area within the Art department and is becoming a popular option at GCSE. Within photography students learn to use professional digital cameras and lighting equipment alongside Adobe Photoshop, the premier photographic and graphic design package.

During Key Stage 3 schemes of work we try to incorporate photography within art lessons although the students gain a more in-depth understanding if they opt for the subject at GCSE.

The department maintains and aims to continually develop and improve the wide range of photographic equipment made available for students to use. This includes a set of digital cameras for everyday use, professional SLR cameras with tripods and reflectors for more detailed work and a Photography studio with equipment including: backdrop screen, lighting, reflectors and diffusers and our own Photoshop IT room.
